1. No warranty — the MIT terms govern
Slim64FS is released under the MIT License, and its disclaimer applies in full: the software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In no event shall the authors be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the software or its use.
2. Data loss
Slim64FS is filesystem software. Filesystems hold data, and all software has bugs. The validation program — the 310-trial crash matrix, xfstests, physical-media gates — is reproducible evidence of behavior on the specific hardware, kernels, and workloads tested. It is not a guarantee of behavior on your hardware, your kernel, or your data. Treat Slim64FS as carefully-validated software, not as a decade-hardened kernel filesystem. Before trusting it with data you care about: read the Known Limitations and the Durability Contract, test on your own hardware, and keep backups. Keep backups regardless — that advice does not expire with maturity.
3. Test results and benchmarks
All published numbers (throughput, latency percentiles, crash-trial counts, xfstests results) were measured on the configurations documented alongside them, and the raw logs are committed unredacted. Different hardware, kernels, FUSE versions, or workloads will produce different numbers. Benchmarks are evidence, not promises.
4. AI provenance
The Slim64FS code was generated by AI from human-authored specifications, human-reviewed, human-tested, and independently audited by six frontier models. This provenance is fully disclosed as methodology. It implies no greater and no lesser warranty than any other authorship would — §1 applies identically.
5. Personas and affiliations
"Jay", "Chris", and the reviewer persona "cooldude@kernel.org" are fictional engineering archetypes used to define workloads and review standards. They are not real people, real endorsements, or real email addresses, and their use implies no affiliation with or endorsement by kernel.org or the Linux kernel community.
FAT32, exFAT, ext4, XFS, Btrfs, SD, CFexpress, and other names referenced on this Site are trademarks or marks of their respective owners. Slim64FS and 64-4 Systems are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft, the SD Association, the CompactFlash Association, or any other such organization. Comparisons are published as good-faith technical analysis.
